A BRIEF HISTORY OF BATH TOUCH LEAGUES AND BATH TOUCH

History of Bath Touch Leagues

Touch has been played in Bath for as long as anyone can remember, but the first league competitions were introduced in 2006.  From its beginnings of a single summer league of 10 teams, the touch scene has grown to be played constantly throughout the year.  There are now 3 competitions run throughout the year in Bath: the Autumn League, the Winter League, and the flagship Summer League, which attracts around 20 teams.

Bath Touch Leagues and Bath Touch

Bath Touch Leagues was set up by Neil Davies back in 2006 to provide the City of Bath with, and meet the demand for, competitive touch rugby.  It runs 3 league competitions throughout the year, and hopes to maintain and expand these competitions in the future.  In collaboration with Bath Touch Rugby Club, Bath Touch Leagues is focussed on improving and developing Touch in Bath, with the hope of it becoming a major part of the UK Touch scene.

Bath Touch was initially set up to provide Bath with a representative team, but also to provide social touch rugby for all those new and old to the game.  The club also runs the very successful Bath Touch Tournament (now part of the ETA National Touch Series), where all profits from which go to the RUH Forever Friends Appeal.  The club now wants to expand what it provides, with the hope of offering coaching to new players and referees, but also to run a successful team that will compete with the best in the ETA National Touch Series.

Bath Touch Leagues and Bath Touch are looking forward to continuing to work together in order to move Touch forward in Bath.
